Delhi, 2nd Dec, 2009: Microsoft Hardware today introduced a new range of computer peripherals specifically designed for ‘Life on the Go.’ with a new range of technologically superior products that promise to redefine the computing experience for consumers. Addressing the needs of a diverse cross-section of consumers in India, these new and innovative products blend aspiration and style on the one hand and value, comfort, and functionality on the other. The product range aims at providing consumers a high infusion of ‘Digital Therapy’ to help consumers redefine their computing experience through:
- Healthy computing (ergonomics),
- Style and functionality, and
- Technology and innovation advantage.
Incorporate a high infusion of ergonomics to enhance comfort and boost productivity, the product range includes a ‘Life In India’ range that was created basis consumer insights from a survey across cities. The survey, conducted by Quantum Market Research assessed the behavior, needs and aspirations of Indian users that and found that consumers in India need ‘dust resistant peripherals’ that are also ‘spill resistant’ and can work better in excessive ‘heat’. The survey also found that consumers in small cities are gravitating to using multi-media keyboards and are also increasingly partial to optical mice in comparison to roller-ball mice. There is also a growing realization about the health hazards of using non-ergonomically designed products, in smaller cities as well. Microsoft took on this challenge and designed a new range of hardware that not only worked better in these conditions but provided better ‘power’ backup and took care of the users’ health too!
Introducing the new range of computer peripherals, Jamieson Yu, Director, Hardware – APAC and GCR, Entertainment and Devices Division, Microsoft Operations said, “Microsoft is committed to healthy computing and therefore our big focus on ergonomics is helping people work safely and avoid injury, but it’s about a lot more than that. A lot of bad “ergonomic” products have been built because they focus only on reducing injury risk. “Designing for the way that people work” also means making work more fun, more comfortable, and more efficient. Microsoft believes that it’s important to focus on the complete work experience to have a truly successful ergonomic design. And we believe that today’s products are a great testimony to this.”
The ‘Life in India’ products include the Wired Keyboard 200, the Optical Mouse 200, and the LifeChat LX 1000. In addition to the this range, Microsoft is also introducing a range ofhigh-end computer peripherals including the Wireless Desktop 3000, the Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 and the LifeCam Cinema. The Wireless Desktop 3000 and Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000, both incorporate Microsoft’s patented Bluetrack technology that enables you to use a mouse anywhere and work with confidence on more surfaces than ever before. BlueTrack combines the power of optical with the precision of laser, allowing you to mouse on virtually any surface—from a granite countertop to an airport bench to the living-room carpet. And they are all backed by Microsoft’s dedication to quality and reliability and are also compatible with Windows 7, Microsoft’s new operating system. |
Added Jaspreet Bindra, Regional Director, Entertainment and Devices Division, Microsoft Corporation India Pvt. Ltd., “Microsoft is committed to developing products that help improve overall computing experience for the Home and SOHO segment by offering users reliable functionality, simplicity and greater value for money. The ‘Life In India’ range for example, incorporates Indian consumer insights for the first time, to offer great value combined with ergonomic design and enhanced comfort and ease of use. At the other end of the spectrum, we have products that are more aspirational and high-end that includes the world’s best webcam. The widescreen capture format in the LifeCam Cinema Webcam is perfect for uploading and sharing videos; now you can be the star on Facebook and YouTube and feel like a movie star in virtually any light!”.
He further added, “Consumer reactions to these products have been extremely encouraging and we believe we’ve hit the ‘sweet-spot’ in terms of integrating relevant features with style, functionality, design and value. This is what we call Digital Therapy.”
Microsoft Hardware sets a new standard for webcams with the launch of LifeCam Cinema, the first consumer webcam on the PC to offer HD and widescreen video with a native 720p sensor. The timing couldn’t be better, with more and more people going online to share videos with friends and family; in fact, more than 10 million videos are uploaded each month to Facebook alone. LifeCam Cinema webcam’s 720p widescreen sensor will deliver clear, quality HD videos — without leaving anyone out of the shot. However, life doesn’t happen on a movie set, and most people don’t have a lighting team in their house to make them look camera-ready. In common indoor settings (low-light situations) Microsoft is delivering an easy way to show amazing video quality in these scenarios. Maintaining a high frame rate even in the lowest lighting, LifeCam Cinema helps ensure that users look well lit and that video remains smooth.
